World of Entopia
Stories Prelude 3
All the employees love when the entertainers have their special after-hours parties and get-togethers. They are forbidden to ask for autographs and pictures. Frankly, they are used to seeing them around, even during regular operating hours when most guests don’t recognize them. But it’s still awesome to see singers, actors, TV and movies personalities and others, eating and enjoying themselves with others and their families.
These entertainers don’t have that pompous “I am a star” attitude here. They aren’t treated like a superstar by the staff and aren’t bowed down too. To the employees, they are employees also, just more popular.
The village has been much better than I anticipated. I think I love the people the best and the closeness you feel with each other. You are expected from day one to interact with your neighbors and go to many of the events they offer. There is no “caste system” here. No fancy cars in driveways, no mansions, no special privileges given to the upper management. We all are a community, and we all enjoy being together, like one big happy family.
Throughout the Village are indoor and outdoor playgrounds for the kids and basketball, volleyball, tennis, and putt-putt golf for everyone. It’s nice to see parents let their kids out to play by themselves, without having to be supervised. At night, the entire outside is lit up with various lights to create a colorful tapestry for the Village.
The Employee Village has over 7,000 residents and growing. Kids can start school at age two, and the mother or dad can spend the first two years raising them if they want, or longer if they wish. The family will receive one allowance, but everything else is taking care of. Absolutely no expenses; no rent, mortgage, electric bill, cable, insurance premiums or deductibles, car payment, food bill, nothing!
You may use your allowance to buy “extra” items at the mall, online or other stores around the Village and buy gifts, send money to someone else in your family, put it toward a vacation or buy a vehicle. The vacation can be bought through the HR Department for s steep discount on airfare, hotels, food, etc. The vehicles can be bought at .05% above costs. But you don’t have to buy a car, as you can “borrow” one when needed. But some Resident’s prefer to have their own car to travel to the surrounding community or take road trips in their own vehicle.
Yes, the Employee Village is a utopian town. Everything taken care of, easy access to work, plenty of fun activities, great neighbors and safety. Absolutely no guns, cars on the road, and predators lurking for you. It makes me wonder if this is similar to what Disney may have been thinking when he envisioned Epcot?
